World Water Week 2022

From August 23 to September 1, international experts and global leaders will participate in the Stockholm International Water Institute’s (SIWI) World Water Week 2022 in Sweden. World Water Week is the leading conference on global water issues and strives to develop solutions to our greatest water-related challenges, such as poverty, climate change, and food security.

This year’s theme is “Seeing the Unseen: The Value of Water”. The sessions throughout the week will be grouped under three theme headings: the value of water for people and development; the financial and economic value of water; and the value of water for nature and climate. To learn more about the programming for this week and register for online sessions, visit https://www.worldwaterweek.org/

USAID Commits Over $68 Million to UN Food Program (WFP)

This month, USAID has announced they are providing over a $68 million in additional funding to the United Nations World Food Program (WFP) for the purpose of purchasing, moving, and storing up to 150,000 metric tons of Ukrainian wheat to help respond to the global food crisis. This boost in funding comes just weeks after a UN-brokered agreement between Ukraine, Russia, and Turkey led to the resumption of Ukrainian grain exports through the Black Sea. The bulk of these grain exports are being directed to the Horn of Africa, where a historic drought is pushing millions towards starvation. Read more about USAID’s global food security response here.
